Job Purpose

As part of the CAGBC Project Development and Research team, the Project Specialist will play a key role in coordinating activities, partnerships, and deliverables for a major workforce development initiative. The Project Specialist, is a new position at CAGBC and will report to a lead Project Manager overseeing the initiative and work with a dedicated team of project, communications, engagement and technical staff.  This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of labour market research, workforce development, and Canada’s growing green building industry. Candidates with an interest in sustainability, workforce trends, and data-driven insights will find this position particularly rewarding. 
 
This is a three year, fixed term position with the possibility of extension.  
 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
Project Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement  
  • Support the Project Manager in implementing project work plans, schedules, and deliverables. 
  • Coordinate logistics and travel for workshops, roundtables, and other in-person and virtual engagement activities. Provide on-site logistical support and engage directly with vendors for audio-visual, catering and other needed coordination for smooth event delivery.  
  • Track progress against milestones, ensuring deliverables are on time. 
  • Maintain detailed records, reports, and project documentation. 
  • Serve as a primary contact for project partners and consultants, along with Project Manager. 
  • Coordinate outreach, invitations, and follow-up for engagement activities. 
  • Working with Director, Project Manager and subject matter experts, support preparation of presentation materials, agendas, and briefing notes. 
  • Assist in capturing feedback and insights from partners and stakeholders to inform project development. 
 
Financial and Contract Monitoring 
  • Track and reconcile project expenditures against budgets. 
  • Monitor consultant contracts, deliverables, and invoices. 
  • Support procurement and contracting processes, ensuring compliance with organizational and funder requirements. 
 
Communications and Reporting 
  • Contribute to progress reports, summaries, and internal briefings. 
  • Support development of communications materials such as meeting summaries, newsletters, and updates for stakeholders. 
  • Help document project outcomes, lessons learned, and success stories. 
 
Qualifications and Experience 
  • Post-secondary degree. 
  • 4 years of relevant experience support complex, multi-stakeholder projects  of experience supporting complex, multi-stakeholder projects — ideally in the building industry or workforce development. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities. 
  • Willingness to coordinate meetings and events, both in-person and virtual. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse partners and stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with budget tracking and financial reporting. 
  • Strong communication and writing skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 
 
Other Responsibilities 
 
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Travel within Canada is essential and required for this role at up to 20% time.

Compensation

$60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
